FSG was appointed in late spring 2021 to undertake renovation works on a series of non-traditional structure homes, known as ‘BISF’ homes (British steel-framed houses).
Project Overview
The project involved the full renovation and improvement of 29 BISF homes, enhancing their structural integrity, insulation, and overall energy efficiency.
Duration & Scale
The programme for all properties was planned to take approximately 18 months, with each home completed within a four-week period.
Scope of Works
The improvement works planned for each home included:
- New wall insulation
- Cladding to the first-floor level of the home, with a render brick effect at a low level
- Upgrading of structural steelwork where required to walls and roof
- New roof over the main house and outhouse
- Removal of chimneys
- New windows
- New composite doors to replace timber external doors
- New fascia, soffits, gutters and downpipes
- New canopies over front door
- Extractor fans installed in kitchen and bathroom where required to help eliminate any condensation issues
Asbestos Management & Safety
All works were carried out in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring safe removal and handling of any materials within the properties.
Product Specification & Guarantees
High-quality materials and products were specified throughout, with guarantees provided for all new installations including roofs, windows, and doors.
Sustainability
The refurbishment focused on improving the energy performance of each property through enhanced insulation, ventilation, and modern construction methods.
